While at VHB, I developed and implemented a data-driven approach using existing travel demand model demographics, jurisdictional land use data, building layers, and the road network to estimate and predict the most critical segments for pedestrians approaching a station. To do this, I used ArcGIS Network Analyst to model pedestrian trips along the network from buildings to Metro Station Entrances and key destinations. I’ve mimicked this approach on other projects principally to understand pedestrian access to transit.
